Pedres Blanques

Roussillon, Japanese couple farming old Grenache on schist near the sea.

Pedres Blanques was founded in 2017 by Rié and Hirofumi Shoji, a Japanese couple who studied oenology in Beaune before settling near Collioure in Roussillon. Their 3.5 hectares of steep terraced vineyards at 350 meters are planted to Grenache (1965 and 1989 plantings) on granite and schist soils close to the Mediterranean. Whole-cluster, native-yeast fermentation, unfined and unfiltered, no added sulfur; certified organic.
