Emidio Pepe began making natural Abruzzese wines in 1964 and the estate is now run by his daughter Sofia and granddaughter Chiara De Iulis Pepe. Wines are foot-trodden, basket-pressed, hand-bottled, and laid down for years — Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Trebbiano are reference natural Italian wines built to age decades.
